Film poster inspiration

I think this horror poster is cleverly designed, It is a sleek and simplistic design made by Olly Moss. He is a graphic designer and illustrator well known for re-imagining movie posters. This poster is primarily made up of red black and white colours, using this simple colour palette creates each individual colour to stand out from another. The red colour suggests and influences the idea of danger and blood, being the prime colour of the film it automatically suggests it being a horror film. The simplistic idea of using a well known shape (britains island shape) as a silhouette that is iconic and is distorted to fit the shape of a werewolf. The viewer has to look at it carefully to point this out as overall it is a well thought out design.
The typography used is in a white colour, standing out from the black background. It has been done with a manual, scratchy feel to it that portrays scratches of the werewolf. I like how the title of the film is in a separate colour that stands out the most being the lightest colour, and primarily the most important aspect for the viewer to see. Overall, i like the use of black and white and then a separate red colour for a horror poster.

Here is a design however that i think would suit our film rather in the other film poster the colour was just the link of inspiration for me. There is a main focus being the eye, showing the idea of the narrative being focused around eyes. However, the use of the hand gives the film a dystopian nature, reinforcing it to be a horror film. When i want to produce my horror poster i would want the genre of the film to be clear when looking at the poster. For this poster i like the use of washed out colours and a deep red colour in the eye again showing a horror aspect. The font is simplistic and bold giving a primary focus to the word 'bold' as well with the image of the eye. There is only one leading actress's name used which suggests theres only one well known star used and there is more of  focus on the story line with the well thought out design rather that the actors/actresses in it which doesn't appear very noticeable on the poster. Where as some films focus to the audience is to get people intrigued from the leading actors names. The poster is restricted and seems quite psychological, making them want to watch the movie to find more about it. This feature is a good idea i feel for my own poster as it would entice the audience.
